My Favorite Coffee Shops in St Petersburg FL

Many of the coffee shops in St Petersburg FL roast their own beans you can really tell. This once hipster city is becoming more cosmopolitan by the year with many higher-end coffee shops popping up all of the time. I have spent many years visiting this city and have just recently called it my home. I travel around the world full time now, but when I’m not traveling I get to come home to St Pete. As a full-fledged millennial, I certainly have a love of coffee and coffee culture. I love bringing my laptop to a coffee shop and getting work done. Much of this blog has been written at some of these coffee shops. Not only can you find great coffee at these shops, but many of them also have some great food and pastries. So here are my St Pete Coffee Shop favorites.

1. Black Crow Coffee Shop

Without a doubt, my favorite St Pete Coffee shop has to be Black Crow. There are two locations, one in old Northeast and one on Central Avenue a bit farther uptown. Both locations are so incredibly cute. If you are looking for a great local vibe, Black Crow definitely has that. Everything I’ve ever had here has always been delicious. They have fantastic drip coffee, great specialty coffee drinks, and even great food. The food here is mostly pastries but they also have empanadas. They even have vegan cream cheese for bagels in the morning.

Black Crow Coffee is a great place to bring your laptop and get some work done while enjoying some of the best coffee in St. Pete. While both locations are great, I personally love the old Northeast location the most because it’s so close to downtown. You can enjoy a coffee with a pastry and then take a short walk to the waterfront. If you only have time to visit one of the coffee shops in St Petersburg FL on this list, make it Black Crow Coffee Shop.

2. Kahwa Coffee

My second favorite coffee shops in St Petersburg FL is Kahwa Coffee. Not only do they have great coffee, but they are located close to where I was staying. I always stay in Old Northeast when I’m in St. Pete and they have a location that’s very close. They also have multiple locations throughout the city. When I went to write this blog post, I realized that I never took any pictures of Kahwa Coffee shop and I could just kick myself. I must have visited Kahwa Coffee at least a dozen times during my recent month in St Pete. They have a really minimalist design to the store and some great covered outdoor seating. They even have some rotating vegan pastries that you should give a try when you visit this St Pete coffee shop.

3. Paradeco Coffee Roasters

St Pete Coffee shop

Paradeco Coffee Roasters is one of the newest coffee shops in St Petersburg FL. With an Art Deco interior and a high-end appeal, I really enjoyed this St Pete coffee shop. The interior design is very high-end. It made me feel like I was back in Bali with all the pink furniture and well thought out design. They have really great coffee drinks here too. They have a rotating seasonal menu of specialty coffee drinks and some of them are super interesting. Along with coffee beverages, you can get some pastries and pre-made meals at Paradeco. Be sure to try their vegan chia pudding. It is super delicious.

I found myself spending a lot of time at Paradeco Coffee Roasters during my month in St Pete because they have really nice setups for people to work. You can find outlets at just about every table and they have great WiFi. This is probably one of the best located coffee shops on this list because it is directly in the heart of downtown. You are just one block from the main Beach Drive and all the great things the waterfront has to offer. My only criticism would be the price. Paradeco is definitely the most expensive St Pete coffee shop that I have been to. But I guess you get what you pay for and that’s the cost of being directly downtown. Anyway, I’m sure you will love getting your caffeine fix at Paradeco Coffee Roasters.

4.. Driftwood Kava & Roastery St. Pete

St Pete Coffee shop

Driftwood Kava & Roastery St Pete is located on Central Avenue in downtown St Pete. Located in the Chihuly museum building, it is a great option for a St Pete coffee shop. This coffee shop has some fantastic specialty coffee beverages along with many other options. You can also get alcoholic beverages here. Along with great coffee, they also have some fantastic food options. You can find more about that in my St Pete vegan restaurants guide here.

One of the best things about Driftwood Roastery is not only their drinks and food but their activities. On certain days of the week, you can listen to live music at Driftwood Roastery. They also have board games and other fun activities to do inside. This is a great place to bring your laptop to work as well, with outlets located all over the cafe. Because of all of the options for great food and drinks, this is one of my favorite coffee shops in St Petersburg FL.

5. Driftwood Cafe

Driftwood Cafe, not to be confused with the aforementioned Driftwood Roastery, is a new cafe located at the end of St Pete Pier. If you have never been, St Pete Pier is a new public park that was developed on the main pier in downtown St Pete. While there was a preexisting structure at the end of the pier, the renovation of the entire pier was completed and reopened in the summer of 2020. It is easily the new crowning jewel of the entire city. St Pete Pier is definitely my favorite part of the downtown St Pete area and is one of the coolest public parks I’ve ever been to in the United States.

There are multiple options along the pier for drinks and food that you should definitely check out but don’t miss out on Driftwood Cafe. This is located in the ground-level area of the main St Pete Pier structure. It is a casual counter-service cafe serving up sandwiches, ice cream, and much more. They have some coffee options here as well. While it’s not the most amazing St Pete coffee shop, it is a really great spot to come get a coffee and sit outside with that incredible view of downtown. Driftwood Cafe certainly offers one of the best views of any of the coffee shops in St Petersburg FL.

6. Book + Bottle

Looking to grab a nice coffee? How about a cocktail or glass of wine? Or maybe a book? Well, you can get it all at Book and Bottle. I really love the concept of this store. It’s a bookstore, a coffee shop, a bar, and a wine store all in one. Located just off of Central Avenue near Mirror Lake, Book and Bottle is a great place to grab any of the items listed above. I love the idea of a one-stop-shop where you can enjoy a coffee during the day and then as it gets later have a glass of wine. All while browsing and buying books. The interior is super cute and a really cool place to hang out. Be sure to check out this cool St Pete Coffee shop.

7. Starbucks

I mean, obviously, there are multiple Starbucks in St Pete. While I usually prefer to visit local coffee shops, sometimes you just want some Starbucks. There isn’t anything particularly special about the Starbucks coffee shops in St Petersburg FL but they still get a place on this list. If you’ve been to one Starbucks, you’ve been to them all. So at least you can know what to expect.

St Pete Coffee Shop Guide Conclusion

As you can see, there are certainly lots of great options for coffee shops in St Petersburg FL. I absolutely love this city and think it is criminally underrated for so many reasons. From the great coffee culture to a great vegan scene and gorgeous waterfront parks, St Pete is slowly becoming a major hot spot. Unlike many parts of Florida, St Pete has a very youthful vibe. Nothing about this city feels like the typical retirement area that Florida is so famous for. If you have never had the pleasure of visiting St Pete you are certainly missing out. It should definitely be the next place you visit when you are in Florida.

I hope that while you are visiting, you get a chance to visit some of these St Pete Coffee shop ideas I have mentioned in this blog post.
