Hua Hin High Tea Service

Upon arriving, you’ll be seated in an open air tea house. There are views overlooking both the lush gardens and the sea. We opted for their vegetarian high tea service and it was absolutely fantastic. With amazing puff pastries, delectable desserts and even some Thai specific offerings like spring rolls, this was definitely a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. During certain days of the week they even play live music during the tea service.

One of the most iconic symbols of this heritage is the Klai Kangwon Palace. This magnificent summer residence, built in colonial style, welcomes visitors to explore its beautifully manicured gardens and glimpse into the lives of the royal family.

Beyond palaces, Hua Hin is home to historical sites such as Wat Huay Mongkol. This is known for its giant statue of the revered monk Luang Phor Thuad. Why Thailand Was Never Colonized

Thailand stands as a remarkable exception in Southeast Asia, having successfully maintained its independence and evading colonization throughout history. Despite escaping direct colonial rule, remnants of colonial architecture can still be found in certain areas of the country, serving as a testament to its historical encounters. This is evident in certain parts of Hua Hin.

While neighboring countries fell under the influence of European powers, Thailand adeptly navigated a delicate diplomatic path, skillfully balancing relationships with foreign nations. This strategic diplomacy, combined with the astute leadership of Thai monarchs, helped shield the country from colonization. However, the presence of colonial architecture in areas such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin can be attributed to the Western influences that Thailand willingly embraced during the 19th and 20th centuries.

These architectural remnants serve as a reminder of the country’s openness to adopting and adapting foreign ideas while preserving its own unique cultural heritage. Today, they stand as captivating landmarks, offering glimpses into Thailand’s complex history and the enduring spirit of independence.
