Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower in the Berkshires Massachusetts

This Unique Berkshires Airbnb Feels Like a Cottagecore Fairytale

This was my first trip to the Berkshires, and honestly, I didn’t really know what to expect.

I had only heard about the area recently and decided to plan a quick getaway to see what this part of Massachusetts was all about. Since it was my first time visiting, I wanted to stay somewhere that felt like more than just a place to sleep. I wanted something memorable, whimsical, cozy, and a little bit magical.

That is exactly what I found at Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower.

This unique Berkshires Airbnb feels like stepping into a cottagecore fairytale, with a storybook tower, cozy interiors, a spiral staircase leading up to a lofted bedroom, garden paths, free-roaming ducks, and even a private pond tucked into the property. It is the kind of stay that feels designed for a romantic weekend, a fantasy movie marathon, or anyone who wants their Berkshires getaway to feel a little more special than a standard cabin or hotel.

I stayed here for three nights in June 2026 with my partner, and while there were a few things I think could have been improved, this ended up being such a charming and memorable base for exploring the Berkshires.

Disclosure: I paid for two nights at Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower and received one complimentary night as part of a partial collaboration. As always, all opinions and experiences shared here are my own.

If you’re looking for a unique Airbnb in the Berkshires, Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower is easily one of the most whimsical places to stay in the area. It is romantic, rustic, cozy, and full of cottagecore charm without feeling overly staged or gimmicky.

The tower is set on the grounds of Santarella Gardens, a fairytale-like property in the Berkshires with gardens, walking paths, a private pond, and a larger “gingerbread house” nearby that can also be rented. The whole property has this slightly hidden-away, storybook feeling that makes it feel like a true escape.

A few quick details about my stay:

Why I Chose This Unique Airbnb in the Berkshires

Romantic fairytale Airbnb stay in Massachusetts

Since this was my first trip to the Berkshires, I wanted to stay somewhere that felt like part of the experience.

I didn’t know much about the area before planning this trip, other than that it was known for charming towns, mountain scenery, arts and culture, and cozy New England getaway vibes. So instead of booking a standard hotel or simple rental, I wanted a place that felt memorable on its own.

That’s what initially drew me to Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower. It looked whimsical, romantic, and completely different from anywhere I had stayed before. I loved the idea of spending a few nights in a tiny fairytale-like tower surrounded by gardens, ducks, and a private pond. It felt like the kind of place that could turn a quick Berkshires trip into something much more special.

And honestly, that’s exactly what it did.

The tower has all of the cottagecore and fantasy vibes I was hoping for, but it still worked really well as a practical base for exploring the Berkshires. During the day, we could easily visit nearby towns and attractions, and in the evening, we got to come back to this cozy little storybook escape.

For anyone planning a romantic getaway in the Berkshires or looking for a unique place to stay in Massachusetts, this is the kind of Airbnb that feels like a destination in itself.

First Impressions of Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower

When we first arrived at Santarella Gardens, the tower immediately stood out.

The architecture is so unique and whimsical that it feels more like something from a storybook than a typical Berkshires Airbnb. The tower itself is adorable, but the whole property adds to the atmosphere. There is also a larger “gingerbread house” on the grounds that you can rent, which is even more dramatic and fairytale-like, although it is also much more expensive.

I also had the chance to meet the owners during my stay, and they were working on expanding the property and continuing to fix it up. You can tell Santarella Gardens is a place with a lot of character and history, and it feels like it is still evolving.

My first impression was that this was exactly the kind of unique stay I was hoping for. It had that cozy, slightly magical feeling I wanted from my first trip to the Berkshires, and it immediately felt different from a normal Airbnb.

It’s whimsical without feeling childish, rustic without feeling too rough, and romantic in a way that feels quiet and natural rather than overly designed. For me, that is what made the tower feel so special right away.

Inside the Tower: Cozy Cottagecore Vibes and Thoughtful Touches

The inside of the tower is small, but in a way that feels cozy and intentional rather than cramped.

The ground floor is the main living space, with two couches facing each other around the pellet wood-burning stove. This ended up being one of my favorite parts of the stay. Even though I visited in June, I was surprised by how chilly the Berkshires still got at night, and the stove kept the entire tower warm and toasty.

There is also a large window above one of the couches that looks out toward the gardens. Sitting there with a coffee in the morning or a movie on in the evening, you can watch the ducks wandering through the property, which is exactly the kind of random charming detail that makes this place feel so special.

The kitchenette is small, so this is not the place where you’ll be cooking a big gourmet dinner. But it has everything you need for a simple stay, including a hot plate, small oven, tea kettle, and coffee station. The hosts also left some really thoughtful personalized touches, including property-branded coffee and a little sign that said “Hayden’s Enchanted Cafe,”which was such a sweet detail.

The whole space is filled with cozy, whimsical touches that fit the fairytale theme without feeling overdone. There was a copy of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, a personalized welcome card, and a picture TV where we watched plenty of fantasy movies during our stay.

It is rustic and charming in the best way. Not sleek, not overly modern, and definitely not a luxury hotel-style space but that is also the point. The magic of this unique Berkshires Airbnb is that it feels warm, personal, and full of character.

The Loft Bedroom: Spiral Staircase, Big Windows, and Stargazing from Bed

Cozy romantic bedroom inside a whimsical tower Airbnb

Walking up the spiral staircase into the lofted bedroom is one of the best parts of staying in the tower.

The upstairs bedroom has high ceilings, a framed bed, and huge windows that run up one side of the tower. During the day, the room fills with natural light and looks out over the gardens, which makes the whole space feel bright, peaceful, and incredibly cozy.

At night, it feels even more magical. Because of the tall windows, you can stargaze right from bed, which was such a lovely detail and made the space feel even more romantic.

The bed itself was also really comfortable. It was plush, cozy, and I slept great during my stay, which is always something I appreciate in an Airbnb. Sometimes unique stays can be beautiful but not necessarily practical or comfortable, and thankfully that was not the case here.

This was easily one of my favorite spaces in the tower. It felt romantic without being over-the-top, whimsical without being cheesy, and cozy in a way that made it hard to want to leave in the morning.

The Gardens, Private Pond, and Free-Roaming Ducks

Unique place to stay in Massachusetts with cottagecore charm

The gardens ended up being one of the most beautiful parts of the stay.

Santarella Gardens has a peaceful, whimsical outdoor space with little walking paths, seating areas, free-roaming ducks, and a private pond tucked behind the tower. It is the kind of setting that really makes the Airbnb feel like a full experience, not just a cute place to sleep.

That said, the gardens did feel like they could have used a little more upkeep during my visit. They were still beautiful, but some areas were a bit overgrown when I arrived, and I actually didn’t realize there was a walking path through the garden until my final night, after the grass had been mowed.

Once the paths were cleared, the space felt completely different. There were little areas to wander through, tucked-away places to sit, and a wooden bridge that led toward the private pond. Around the pond, there are benches and Adirondack chairs where you can relax, watch the ducks, and look back at the tower nestled between the trees.

That view of the tower from the pond was one of my favorite parts of the whole property. It felt quiet, romantic, and very fairytale-like, especially in the evening.

I do think the gardens have the potential to be absolutely incredible with a bit more consistent upkeep, and hopefully they are a little more manicured for future stays. But even with that note, the outdoor space was still one of the highlights of my visit.

One practical thing to know: bring tick repellent or wear long pants if you plan to spend time walking around the gardens. Ticks are common in this area, and I found several on me during my stay, so it is definitely something to be aware of.

Is This a Good Romantic Getaway in the Berkshires?

Cozy fairytale tower stay with warm stove and rustic decor

Yes! I think this is a fantastic romantic getaway in the Berkshires, especially if you and your partner are drawn to cozy, character-filled places rather than sleek luxury hotels.

I visited with my partner, and the tower felt like such a sweet place for a quiet romantic trip. It is small and intimate, with a cozy lounge area downstairs, a plush lofted bed upstairs, and gardens and pond views right outside. It feels like the kind of place where you can slow down, watch a movie by the fire, have coffee while looking out at the gardens, and spend time together without feeling like you need to rush around.

The tower also felt private during our stay. The hosts do live in the house nearby, and there is also the larger gingerbread house rental on the property, but we never really noticed anyone else while we were there. It still felt peaceful and tucked away.

I would not necessarily recommend this Airbnb to someone who wants a super modern, polished, luxury-style stay. But for a couple looking for something romantic, rustic, whimsical, and genuinely unique, Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower is such a memorable option.

Location: Why Santarella Gardens Works So Well for Exploring the Berkshires

One of the best things about staying at Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower is the location.

Even though the property feels quiet and tucked away, it is still really convenient for exploring the Berkshires. Most of the towns and attractions I wanted to visit were an easy drive away, which made this a great base for my first trip to the area.

You’re close to some of the best-known places in the Berkshires, including Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Lenox, and several major cultural attractions. There is also a grocery store about five minutes away, which was really convenient for picking up simple food, snacks, or anything you might want to bring back to the tower. As an EV owner, I also appreciated that there were Tesla chargers there.

Things to Do Near This Berkshires Airbnb

Because Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower is in such a convenient location, it is easy to pair a cozy stay here with some of the best things to do in the Berkshires. I loved that the tower felt like a peaceful escape, but I never felt isolated or too far from restaurants, towns, museums, or places to explore.

Here are a few nearby stops I’d recommend adding to your itinerary.

Explore Great Barrington

downtown Great Barrington in the Berkshires

Great Barrington was probably my favorite town that I visited in the Berkshires.

I ended up going multiple times during my stay because it had a really nice mix of shops, restaurants, and charming streets to wander. It felt lively without being overwhelming, and it was an easy place to spend a slow afternoon browsing, grabbing a bite to eat, or just getting a feel for the area.

If you’re staying at the tower for a romantic weekend, Great Barrington is a great nearby town to keep on your list for dinner, coffee, shopping, or a casual afternoon out.

Walk Around Stockbridge Main Street

downtown Stockbridge in the Berkshires Massachusetts

Stockbridge is another classic Berkshires stop and feels very New England in the best way.

Main Street is small, charming, and easy to walk around, making it a nice place to pair with nearby attractions like the Norman Rockwell Museum. It is not somewhere you need a full day for, but it is absolutely worth visiting while you’re in the area.

Visit the Norman Rockwell Museum

Norman Rockwell Museum in the Berkshires

The Norman Rockwell Museum is one of the most well-known attractions in the Berkshires and makes an easy cultural stop while staying at Santarella Gardens.

It is especially convenient to combine with Stockbridge since they are close together. Even if you are not usually a big museum person, it is a classic part of the area and a good way to add some history and art into your Berkshires trip.

Tour The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Estate

The Mount, Edith Wharton's Estate in the Berkshires

The Mount, Edith Wharton’s historic estate, was another beautiful place to visit during my trip.

It has that elegant, old New England estate feeling, with architecture, gardens, and grounds that make it feel very fitting for a Berkshires itinerary. If you enjoy historic homes, literary history, gardens, or just beautiful properties, this is a great stop to add while you’re in the area.

Make the Trip to MASS MoCA

art exhibition at MASS MoCA in the Berkshires
art at MASS MoCA

MASS MoCA was phenomenal and one of the biggest highlights of my time in the Berkshires.

It is a bit farther from the tower than places like Great Barrington or Stockbridge, but I thought it was absolutely worth the drive. The museum is massive, interesting, and different from a more traditional art museum experience. If you enjoy contemporary art or want to add something bold and creative to your trip, I would definitely make time for it.

Consider Tanglewood If You’re Visiting in Season

Tanglewood is another major Berkshires attraction to keep on your radar, especially if you are visiting during the summer season.

I did not attend an event there on this trip, but it is one of the area’s most famous cultural venues and can be a great addition to a romantic Berkshires getaway if the timing lines up with your visit.

Who This Berkshires Airbnb Is Best For

Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower is best for travelers who care more about atmosphere and character than having the most modern or polished stay.

I think it is especially perfect for couples planning a romantic getaway in the Berkshires. The tower feels intimate and cozy, the lofted bedroom is beautiful, and the whole property has this quiet, ethereal feeling that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy being there.

It is also a dream for anyone who loves cottagecore or fantasy-inspired places. Between the storybook architecture, the cozy stove, the spiral staircase, the garden paths, the ducks, and the private pond, it really does feel like staying somewhere out of a fairytale.

I’d recommend this Airbnb for:

  • couples looking for a romantic Berkshires getaway
  • cottagecore lovers
  • fantasy lovers
  • travelers who want a unique place to stay in Massachusetts
  • people who love rustic charm and cozy interiors
  • anyone planning a slower, more atmospheric weekend trip
  • travelers who want an Airbnb that feels like part of the destination

This is not just a convenient place to sleep while exploring the Berkshires. It is the kind of stay that becomes one of the main memories from the trip.

Final Thoughts: Would I Stay Here Again?

Unique Berkshires Airbnb with fairytale tower architecture

Yes, I would absolutely stay at Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower again, especially for a visit in the fall.

The Berkshires are famous for fall foliage, and I can only imagine how beautiful this property would be surrounded by autumn colors. Between the tower, the gardens, the pond, and the cozy pellet stove inside, it feels like the kind of place that would be even more magical during a crisp fall weekend.

Overall, this was exactly the kind of stay I was hoping to find for my first trip to the Berkshires. It was romantic, cozy, whimsical, and genuinely memorable; the kind of Airbnb that feels like part of the destination rather than just a place to sleep.

Between the spiral staircase, the lofted bedroom, the pellet stove, the gardens, the ducks, and the private pond, the tower really does have that cottagecore fairytale feeling. It also worked well practically for a three-night trip, with a comfortable bed, strong Wi-Fi, easy self check-in, plenty of parking, and a location that made it simple to explore nearby towns and attractions.

The only real downside for me was that the gardens could have used a little more upkeep when I first arrived. Once the paths were cleared, though, that outdoor space became one of my favorite parts of the property.

If you are looking for a sleek, modern luxury stay, this may not be the right fit. But if you want a cozy, rustic, fantasy-inspired Airbnb that feels like a true escape, Santarella Gardens Enchanted Tiny Tower is such a special place to stay in the Berkshires.
