The Best Vegan Food in Koh Samui, Thailand

Koh Samui Vegan Food Tour- Your guide to Vegan Koh Samui!

Koh Samui is a gorgeous island in the south of Thailand, which I had the great pleasure of spending two weeks visiting. This island is one of many islands in Thailand to be known for yoga retreats, acai bowls, and vegan food beyond your wildest dreams. But which of the vegan restaurants are a must visit? I put in the leg work for you and visited as many vegan places as I could. Below is a list of my favorite experiences.

Please keep in mind that these are only my personal opinions, therefor take everything with a grain of salt. Also, there are many vegan restaurants on the island I was not able to visit during my stay. These are simply the best of my personal experience. Here’s your quick Koh Samui Vegan Food Tour! For more information on specific posts, click the title to be taken to a full post about each specific restaurant!

6.Greenlight Cafe + Bar

Located in Fishermans Village in Northern Koh Samui, Greenlight Cafe is a very standard vegan restaurant that has an attached yoga retreat. Fishermans village is a very cute, walkable town and this restaurant is pretty much right at the start of it all. You’ll find everything from vegan burgers to salads to grain bowls and everything in between. Although I enjoyed this place quite a bit, it was probably the least exciting restaurant I went to on Koh Samui. Not to say that there was anything wrong with my experience because the food was still great. If you are in the Fishermans village area, it is definitely worth stopping in for a quick lunch before checking out the area! Check out their website for more info!

5. The Road Less Travelled Cafe Bar

Tofu Buddha Bowl

Located in Nathon Town, this is the perfect spot to grab a bite whether you’re arriving or departing the island by ferry. The menu is not completely vegan but the options here were plentiful and I was very impressed. From delicious breakfast bowls to hearty salads, you’ll be sure to find something here you’ll love. Also their coffee drinks are fantastic! Be sure to check them out! Check out their Facebook page for more info!

4. Vegan Khunnay

Vegan KFC Chick’n and Tofu

Vegan Khunnay is a mom-and-pop buffet-style restaurant located just outside the main airport area of Chaweng. Run by a very sweet mother and daughter out of their home, you won’t find more authentic vegan Thai dishes than here! Every item was simply delicious and a total joy to experience such different flavors. Be sure to try their famous “KFC”-style Chick’n! Don’t take more than you can eat though because there’s an extra charge for an unfinished plate. This is one not to miss!

3. Vikasa Life Cafe

Vegan Wild Rice Burrito

Vikasa Life Cafe is a restaurant attached to a cliffside hotel and yoga retreat between Lamai and Chaweng. While not offering a completely vegan menu, the options were vast and very interesting. From juices and smoothies to vegan cheese plates and burritos, this place has something for everyone and then some! Plus you really can’t beat the view, overlooking the gorgeous ocean with the sound of waves crashing as you enjoy your meal! I particularly enjoyed their vegan cheese plate, with some of the most unique flavorings I’ve experienced in a fake cheese. Be sure not to miss this one! Check out their website for more info!

2. Pure Vegan Heaven Koh Samui

A chain-restaurant throughout Thailand, Pure Vegan Heaven Koh Samui did not disappoint! Located in Lamai on the southeast side of the island, this restaurants strength was its total simplicity. Nothing over the top or trying too hard; just pure, delicious vegan food. The only reason this didn’t get the top spot is that I was not very impressed with the interior of the restaurant itself. But the food is not to be missed! Check out their website for more info!

1. Wild Tribe Cafe

Coming in at the top spot for my favorite vegan restaurant on Koh Samui is Wild Tribe Cafe! Located in Lamai as well, this is also attached to a yoga studio providing delicious smoothies, breakfast bowls, burgers, and anything else you could possibly think of. Their decor is absolutely adorable with an open air concept surrounded by lush greenery and spectacular simple food options! This should be your go-to spot if you only have time to visit one vegan restaurant! Check out their website for more info!
